Methodology
CoverMyBreed Method v1.0, published October 4, 2026.
Premium anchors
Monthly premium figures are published research averages, attributed on every page to their source (AdvisorSmith premium research; MoneyGeek pet insurance cost analysis) and reviewed October 4, 2026. They are orientation anchors. A live premium depends on the individual dog's age, breed details, location, and the deductible, reimbursement, and limit chosen, and this site presents no figure as a quote or an offer.
Breed risk profiles
Condition lists describe health risks commonly associated with each breed, consistent with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and university veterinary hospital resources. They are population-level breed information, not a diagnosis or prediction for any individual dog. This site gives insurance education only, never veterinary advice.
What this site refuses to do
- No insurer rankings, no quote promises, no affiliate rankings dressed as research. No state-level insurance guidance is published; insurance regulation varies and live insurer materials govern.
- The breed tool works one emergency example with stated inputs, labelled an example. Real claims turn on the actual policy's definitions, waiting periods, and exclusions.
- No invented figures. Every number carries its source or is labelled illustrative arithmetic.
Review process
Pages pass source verification (premium anchors to their published source, definitions to NAIC consumer guidance and policy-form language), arithmetic test (worked examples recomputed by hand), and editorial review (anchors labelled as anchors on every page, the get-a-live-quote ending on the tool, and health content kept to insurance relevance). Dates distinguish content review from source checks.
